PolyLingual support

Q. What is the main purpose of this app?

The idea is to be able to learn multiple languages at once, or just sharpen your memory if you already speak a few languages and sometimes mix up the words. It can also be used to just study one language at a time by only selecting one additional language to your native language in the settings tab.

Q. How can I add translations for words that have empty cells in the word grid?

Double tap on the language in the header column of the word grid to automatically fill any empty cells with translations. This may take awhile in the case of hundreds of words, so please be patient.

Q. The translation for a word isn't the right context, or I would like to add alternate translations, what should I do?

Double click on the word in the grid to be bring up the options prompt. Select 'Edit Word', and then type in your preferred text. A suggested format for alternate translations would be to separate them with a backslash, comma, or hyphen.

Q. How do I create a new category of words?

With the Categories tab selected, click on the plus sign on the left hand side of the parent category you would like to add the new category to. This will prompt you to enter a title for the new category and you can begin populating it with words by repeatedly hitting the plus button in the top left corner of the word grid. These words can then be studied in the study tab using flash cards.

Q. How can I view a demonstration of using this app?

If you skipped past the initial tutorial, you can restart it by clicking the tutorial selection under the settings tab. These short videos will give you examples of each function of the app.

Q. The front of a study card is blank, what is wrong??

If you do not have a translation for the word in the source language for the study session, it will show as a blank on the front of the study card. To fix this, add a translation for the word in the word grid for that category, then reload the study session. Remember, you can auto fill all blanks for that language by double tapping on the language name in the word grid.

Q. How do I flip the study cards back and forth?

Click on any area of the screen that does not have any text to flip the card. Clicking on the text activates the speech function for that word.

Q. Why are a few languages (Bengali, Gaelic) are not spoken or are spoken with an English accent, ?

Unfortunately, as of now, these languages (Bengali, Gaelic, Serbian, and Icelandic) are not available with the speech synthesizer that is used. This may be addressed in a future update.

Q. How can I suggest additional features for improvement?

The developer can be reached at the email given below and will consider any suggested improvements. Additional features and extra languages or word categories may be added in future updates. You may also send an email from within the 'Help' section of the settings if your device is set up for sending mail from the app.

For further questions or to suggest improvements or new features, you may contact the developer at bjdumm23@gmail.com.
